Libya to Shutdown Oil Production Indefinitely

This is the exact reason why we need to produce our own oil until such time that alternative fuel sources are developed and are affordable to the masses. My short list of things to do are (and I apologize to the environmentalists who will undoubtedly take offense or have an opposite opinion):
-- I think that if we start by building new nuclear power plants that we could shutdown the oil-fired plants and divert that oil to the transportation industry.
-- The hybrid cars that I've been seeing lately look promising to those of us who are mostly city drivers. These vehicles could prove worthy in the short-term especially if the technology improves. The drawback to these types of vehicles is that they probably require specialized training by the mechanic so long gone will be the days of the shade tree mechanic.
-- We need to use every resource that we have for oil in our country, whether it is off-shore or in the mid-west, it MUST BE DONE! If a squirrel, caribou or some unknown insect has to be displaced then that is what will have to happen. Nature has a tendency to adapt.
-- The government has to cut back on the entitlement programs. The money saved here could go to energy research or maybe just be used to pay off the current debt to China. This is intertwined with oil since part of the money being spent on higher oil is in competition with China's need for oil.

These are just a few thoughts and I'm sure that I will be criticized for what I say but hey, that is to be expected.

I find it a true shame that we let our country get into this shape -- we need energy independence and we need it now but unfortunately being that we are a country that actually "plays by the rules", our leaders will not go ahead and do what is best for the country's energy woes.

My 2 cents. Thanks for reading.

An Uneducated Man's Thoughts on the Jobs Bill

If the government is going to provide jobs for the masses then it needs to go ahead and do it! Forget the health care mess and let's get the jobs bill going as Obama promised in his state of the dis-union speech, before the health care run-around took place.

If road and bridge construction (re-construction) brings people back to work then unemployment transfer payments will be replaced with paychecks (you know, being paid to actually produce something instead of sitting around) then private sector businesses will have to gear up and producing in order to support the government programs where in turn hiring will increase and unemployment will come down. Once money is being made and people start buying other goods then other industry should start benefiting from the new demand and HOPEFULLY, things will start to return to normal.

This is what I think needs to happen if Washington is truly interested in getting the country back on the road to prosperity. Now if they are really interested in expanding the welfare state to a state of socialism then let's just keep the status quo and it will come about on its own.

It's Baseball Season!!!

Went to the Shorebirds game last night and as usual they lost. I must bring bad karma to the ball field because they seem to high a very high loss rate when I go to their games. Anyway it was freezing cold but we had a great time with some new friends and I made a discovery that I want to share with everyone; the "Shermanburger" is absolutely delicious! I had no idea that the burgers were that good, just like homemade without the home. My thanks go out to Darrell and Debra Wilson for the invitation last night.

Motorcycle Safety

This is a repost from a facebook cause that a buddy ask me to join, I'm such an advocate that I decided to share it here as well. So please read below.

Being an avid motorcycle enthusiast I know first hand what it is like to have people ignore your presence on the road. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I've been pulled out on or have seen other motorcycles be pulled out in front of without regard to the drivers safety.

Last year at Delmarva Bike Week 2010 I w...as riding home with my wife on the bike along side of a buddy and his wife, we were doing around 65 MPH to keep up with traffic, there was a group of bikers ahead of us by about four or five car lengths. The group ahead of us changed lanes to pass some cages that were moving too slow for their taste, so far no harm no foul because it happens all of the time; well I noticed in my mirror that there was a cage whipping in and out of traffic like he was in the Indianapolis 500 or something so I pulled over to the right hand lane. This idiot in the cage must have been doing 90 or better because he was passing other vehicles with little effort. I noticed that one of the members of the group ahead of us moved over to the right hand lane but the second member did not. Well "Mario Andretti" just kept on going like nothing was wrong.

I immediately got this really bad feeling in my gut that something bad was going to happen right in front of me slow I let off the gas and started slowing down, looking for an exit just in case I needed it.

The cage got right up on that motorcycles tail and just when you thought that that it was over for the driver and his passenger the cage driver must have realized that "hey, there's a motorcycle right in front of me, maybe I need to slow down" and the cage applied liberal break pressure and slowed down quickly. Fortunately the motorcycle driver and passenger were fine, they must have realized that someone was right on their tail because it seemed that just as soon as "Mario" hit they breaks the dude on the crouch rocket nailed it and got around the car that he was originally passing.

Moral of the story: Please watch out for motorcycles, they have the right to use the highway too so please don't run us over and kill us. Because if you do we will haunt you and your entire family from the grave!

Education?

It seems that the more highly educated that some people get the dumber they actually are. Why is it that you can tell a child to do something and they do it without thinking yet if you tell an adult they disblieve you?

1D10+'s

I don't understand why some people just don't understand how to use computer programs, especially after numerous training sessions. Why don't they try reading the help files, that's how most of us do it.
